AtTendInG LeCtURe~~

I attended a lecture last week. In the lecture, the professor, Peter Slezak, dealt with the topic-World Regional Geography. At the beginning of class, He reviewed two basic frameworks for studying geography with students. The two basic frameworks were systematic approach and regional approach. He spent about twenty minutes on reviewing and gave lots of specific examples for these two frameworks. He reminded students this part will in midterm exam. Then, he gave definition of a Region and talked about common regional concepts with students. He guided students to consider the difference between the physical factors shaping Realms and the regions and cultural factors shaping realms and regions. The professor gave definitions and some specific examples about the two factors. Immediately after, He also talked about the Characteristics of Underdevelopment and development. He also introduced the Chief Obstacles to Development with specific examples. During this class, he showed students the geography knowledge in different countries. He discussed the General Characteristics of Europe, the Physical Geography of Peninsula of Asia, the historical geography of Mesopotamia and Egypt and the general characteristics of Russia
The professor was very humorous. His words always let his student laugh. His humor let his students studied actively in this class. He lectured to students clearly and effectively. There were about 150 students in this class, I found that most of the students in this class paid attention to the professor and they took notes very seriously. The learning atmosphere was perfect. I sat closed to professor. I found he liked look at students’ eyes and tried to attract everyone in his class by eye contact. He liked to ask questions about the knowledge which is beyond books. Students thought hard as if these questions were hard to answer. However, the professor was patient and guided them to think step by step until students got the answer. I could see that his students respect him very much. They followed their professor seriously and answered his question actively. Even though class was over, some students remained in classroom asked questions draw round the professor.
I felt very confident when I attend lecture in this term. I interest in geography very much. Before I attend this class, I thought it is must very interesting for me. Actually, I found this lecture was not as easy as I thought. However, I really enjoyed it. I did my best to follow the professor and I found take notes was so hard that I had to write at a gallop. But I felt happy because I could understand most of it by the notes. The profession was rich in geography knowledge. He has enough teaching experience and he knew how to let student pay attention to him. In this class, I could feel the learning process by professor’s excellent lecture. This was a really good experience. It will be a memorable class in my life.
